MGR Government Film and Television Institute
(Affiliated to TamilNadu Music & Fine Arts University)
This university established in 1945 as the Central Polytechnic, and upgrade in 1959 namely Institute of Film Technology, after that the institute was renamed.

Keeping witht evolution of Film & Television Technology the students are imparted training in the "State of Art" infrastructure.

BVA - Bachelor of Visual Arts
(A Professional Degree in Film Making)


1. BVA - Bachelor of Visual Arts in Cinematography.
    Duration = 04 years
    Medium = English
    Qualification= pass in 10+2 /MPC or DEE/DCE


2. BVA - Bachelor of Visual Arts in Digital Intermediate.
    Duration = 04 years
    Medium = English
    Qualification= pass in 10+2 /MPC or DEE/DCE



3. BVA - Bachelor of Visual Arts in " Audiography "
    (Imparting knowledge and Training in Live & Audio Recording for Film & TV)
    Duration = 04 years
    Medium = English
    Qualification= pass in 10+2 /MPC or DEE/DCE


4. BVA - Bachelor of Visual Arts in " Direction & Screen Play Writing".
    Duration = 04 years
    Medium = English
    Qualification= pass in 10+2 (any group)


5. BVA - Bachelor of Visual Arts in " Film Editing".
    Duration = 04 years
    Medium = English
    Qualification= pass in 10+2 any group


6. BVA - Bachelor of Visual Arts in "Animation & Visual Effects".
    Duration = 04 years
    Medium = English
    Qualification= pass in 10+2 /MPC or DEE/DCE

Who are eligible to join in Film Technology Courses?

Ans= There is a reservation of 1 seat in each degree course from Other States

Reservations applicable as per the Stage Govt norms...

What is the Fee for Film Technology Course (BVA)?

• Tution Fee = Rs. 15000/-
• Special Fee= Rs 2000/-
• Dev-Charges= Rs 1000/-
• CMD = Rs 500/-
• Film Society Membership= Rs 500/-
• etc........

How to apply for Film Technology Course (BVA)?

• The cost of the application = Rs.200/-
• Candidates can directly buy the application from:- The Principal, MGR. Government Film & Television Institute, Tharamani, Chennai - 600113.

Receive the application by POST...
The candidate should pay the DD and enclose an envelop (size 30X25 cm) with stamps of Rs 71/-
Separate application should be submit for each course....
Enclose all qualification certificates & caste/income certificates
